MAX PAYNE 2 - The Fall Of Max Payne
Things just won't turn peachy for our tragic hero Max. If you're not yet acquainted with the hard New York cop Max Payne, you get to check out a rundown of his previous outing. With his wife and kid murdered, and Max framed, he doesn't reserve much hesitation when it comes to wiping out the bad guys. Here Max wakes up in the hospital and you're sucked into a vortex of flashbacks on how he ended up there - many dead bodies scattered along the trail, guilty and innocent. Play modes include Detective / HardBoiled / D.O.A. / NY Minute / Dead Man Walking / or the luxury to Jump To Chapter - each section getting unlocked as you progress to unravel the dark and deadly events in Max's tumultuous life of despair. There is no shortage of bad guys to pop and keep picking up those painkillers, as the other guys don't always miss. The Bullet-Time slo-mo function is still way cool. Vladimir Lem, Mona Sax and Detective Winterson make up a few of the other characters that weave through Max's world as he drives towards to the truth. The link sequences are again in graphic novel strip form with a fantastic, somber soundtrack enhancing the Noir thriller mood with its saturated dark tones - even the credits play like a movie. Once you've familiarized yourself with the movement controls and aiming system and wasted time opening shower taps and popping soda cans from vending machines etc, look for the real hidden firepower and get to work. Each chapter with its respective parts is a rewarding experience of the whole.
