ROBOTS

With voices by Ewan McGregor, Robin Williams, Halle Berry
Directed by Chris Wedge & Carlos Saldanha

When it comes to digital animation the recreation of skin-, hair- and other organic textures have always been the biggest obstacle. But, for many years plastic and metal had been convincingly replicated (from that very first jumping desk lamp used in Pixar’s logo). Here it gets put to full use in a world of robots where everything is riveted and shiny. A young, wide-eyed robot heads for the big city to fulfill his dreams, and hooks up with the expected bunch of robotic misfits making for cheap laughs. But his utopian ideals are crushed when he gets stuck in the middle of a corporate nasty’s plot to rid the place of older and outdated models. A great, fun-filled adventure for both parent and kid.
