Valiant is one of the first independently produced digitally animated British feature films. Heading into a classic era and pinnacle part of England’s history, the 2nd World War, our chosen characters are carrier pigeons, which were widely used during the time as a message service on the frontline. Ewan McGregor voices Valiant, the enthusiastic and patriotic (but very small) pigeon adamant to join the forces and serve with pride. With a ramshackle batch of fellow recruits (including a slob voiced by The Office’s Ricky Gervais), they end up becoming the last hope to win the war. Hawks were trained by the Nazis to capture these pigeons and so the choice of villain would be obvious. Valiant is an action-packed, entertaining, cute, and funny movie for all ages with the expected built-in moral of “rising to the occasion”, “a big heart can win” and “you can do it no matter how disadvantaged you may seem”.
Great fun.
