THE GREAT ROCK 'N' ROLL SWINDLE >DATES PENDING< Over the decades many bands have laid claim to giving birth to groundbreaking genres within rock music. While they're not necessarily eager to take that throne, the Sex Pistols are by far closest in the running for the title of "Grandfathers of Punk". This absolutely brilliant mix of rockumentary and bullshit narrative tells the rise and fall of this UK phenomenon that took the world by storm with Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and their conniving manager Malcolm McLaren in all of their glory. Extravagant, rebellious, crazy and mind-blowing, director Julian Temple made his mark with this indelible piece of music history mixing both fact and fiction in broad, highly entertaining strokes. In his organization he gave kickstarts to many of our time's most celebrated directors like Francis Ford Coppola (Godfather trilogy, Apocalypse Now), Martin Scorsese (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas)and Jonathan Demme (The Silence Of The Lambs, Philadelphia). Corman's directing stints included several Edgar Alan Poe gothic horrors featuring Vincent Price, as well as the classic Little Shop Of Horrors (reputedly shot in two days).
